Random Thoughts

I'm still down in my back. What a pain (literally). Can't sit here very long due to the pain. I guess if it's not better by the end of the week I will have to go visit the Bone and Joint Clinic. It seems to have been my home away from home over the last few years. I've had both knees totally replaced and I had a compression fracture due to a fall a few years ago that gives me a fit occasionally. The thing that has me right now is due to degenerative disc disease. Nothing life threatening but it sure can hurt. Giving injections in my lower spine usually does the trick for a long time but you can only get them every two to three years. I can't remember when I had the last one so we will see.

My feelings about my ex-husband's death snuck up on me. We didn't have a horrible divorce and were still speaking. We were married almost 15 years and he is my grandchildren's step-Grandpa (or Papa they called him). I had only talked to him a couple of times since he remarried last October. He moved back to Indiana this past Memorial Day weekend and I talked to my step-son more than I did him. I'm going through my photo's and making a little album for my step-son, of photo's of his Dad (and some with him in them) that I took over the years. I will send it to him on his birthday, which is just before Christmas. Just a little keepsake of happier times and good memories.

My neighbor (the one who likes to cook for all us older folks) just brought me some home made soup, or what he calls hamburger stew. It smells wonderful. That will be my supper tonight. He is such a nice person. You wouldn't believe how much candy he put in the kid's bags on Halloween. Just big handful's at a time. I think he was having more fun than the kids. lol.

Well, I better get off of here and hit the heating pad again for a while. Hope everyone is having a good week. Hugs, Joyce

  1. Joyce that back pain is something else. I spent a good part of the day on my heating pad Saturday. They all tell me to use ice but the heat sure feels better sometime. So nice of you to make the album for your step-son. I bet he will really appreciate it.

  5. I sure hope you get some relief from the back pain soon. It's not a stranger to me either but I think we have different reasons for it. Mine is the sciatic nerve and it seems as long I remember to take a beta carotene every day it doesn't bother me. I'm careful about lifting anything very heavy, too. So nice and thoughtful of you to do the album . Hamburger soup is a popular dish around here, too. :)........
