Oktoberfest 2008 is over!

Hello all. Well it's over for another year. I'm worn out, sunburned, have several bruises from unknown causes and ache in places I was not aware existed before, and... I'd do it all again in a heartbeat. What a fun time. I regret that I didn't get to go to the car show and some of the singing events etc. though. I had to pretty much stay close since I was having my own yard sale. I was able to pick up a few Christmas gifts from some of the vendor's across the street (that had new items). I found Brandon (7 yr. old grandson) a kid-sized skate board complete with the helmet, knee and elbow pads for $10. Now you see why I love Oktoberfest, not to mention the funnel cake that was big enough for 3 of us to share. Between my daughter and I we made an amazing amount of money (by yard-sale standards) and only ended up with one small basket of clothes that we took to the food bank this morning. All the photo's were taken from my back and side yard. I forgot to take one of my front yard (which was also covered in a friends stuff). The first photo shows the field across the street before anyone had arrived (just the owner's looking and taping things off).
I don't know if I mentioned this before, but while I was digging for things to sell I ran across my paternal grandmother's diary. It has 7 months worth of daily entries in it from January through July of 1945. I am so taken with her simple words and prayers. I will share a little of it when I finish reading it all. I was very young when she died and don't remember her well so this is so interesting to me.
Anyway, I hope everyone has been doing well. It will take me a while to catch up with everyone but I will do my best.
Hugs, Joyce

  5. How nice to find an old journal, especially that of your grandmother!I think it's a great way into getting into the mind of the writer, to see how the day to day was for her. That's a little treasure! Good to hear you had a fun time at the Oktoberfest.

  6. Wow, Joyce, love the pictures! That is just the coolest thing. Next year I just may have to make a little trip south.

If you made out anything like your first day on the rest of the days, you did darned well plus you did get a great bargain for your grandson.

Now, put those piggies up and rest. HUGS
