More Diary

Photobucket
Simple but cute. Snag only.

Just for fun in my LilA group.

Thought I would do one final entry from my grandmother's diary. So much is the same and I don't want to bore anyone. It's washing, ironing etc. A couple of days she says she got to go to the picture show and it was swell (no one says that anymore). I hope everyone is enjoying this wonderful cool down. It's been great to open up the windows during the day and get some fresh air inside. I know it's probably too cool to do that in some places but our days have been in the upper 60's and low 70's. We are supposed to get rain tomorrow and Friday that will cool it down even more.

Dear Diary,
Jesus meek and humble of heart, make my heart like unto thine.
I still have my headache today bit not as bad as yeaterday. Done my washing but took it easy. Guess that's all I can do now. My housecleanings done so I feel good about that. I wish I could see my son {my father} soon. I expect to hear from him soon as he is leaving Labradore. I'll bet he will be glad to get back to the states again. I hope he doesn't get sent accross. Don't let that happen Oh God. Watch over my Victor {son who passed away} too please.

Dear Diary,
Another day is here and a very rainy one. Went to Bristol shopping for meat. What a time I had. Went to six markets and all I got was sausage meat and liver. Got good news though, that Jr. {don't know who this is} has been liberated from a German prison camp. We're so glad to get the news. Thank you God for sending him home safe and thank you for watching over my family. A special thank you for keeping Oscar {her brother} from the temptation of drink.

Dear Diary,
Lot's of rain again today. I didn't do much as I didn't feel like it. Just brushed up a bit and went to see "A Song to Remember" in technicolor. It was a swell picture. I wish my Jackie {my mom} was here to go with me. I love her so much. Thank you God for giving me such a lovely daughter-in-law.

OK, 1945 memories are over for now. I cannot tell you how much I have enjoyed reading the diary and getting to know this amazing lady. Have a great day everyone.

Hugs, Joyce

  15. I like how you put your face on the cat! Cute!

What a remarkable gift to be able to read your grandmother's journal. It was a glimpse into a life that we can only imagine. My Dad's parents had 4 sons in WWII. FOUR! Can you imagine how scary that must have been for them? I guess my Grandma cried herself to sleep every night while they were gone. Thankfully they all came home!
